Our History

The year 2006 is a milestone in the History of the Ursuline sisters as one more educational institution is grafted on to its mission in the village of Kanhiradukam, In kasaragode district of Kerala.Ursuline public school Was inaugurated on 05th June 2006 by Rev.Fr.Antony Thekkemuriyil. Rev.Sr. Fernanda Ezhanikatt was then the provincial superior. sr.Nithya was appointed the first Principal of the new school. Rev.Sr. Betty James was the local manager.

The Sisters who run the Ursuline Public school belong to the Congregation of the Ursulines of Mary Immaculate with its original head quarters in Piacenza,Italy. From its initial days in 1649 education was its primary activity. The pioneers aimed at integral formation of the young boys and girls by type of education which tends to bring about a personal synthesis of life by educating them to be spiritually oriented, morally upright, socially concerned and intellectually well informed, with a view to making human life meaningful.

When we upgraded to std VIII our urgent need was to secure NOC from the State Government and affiliation to CBSE New Delhi. Many are the demands made by the state Govt. and we had to work hard for over a year, to fulfill all of them. After a long struggle we managed to get the NOC from the State Government and affiliation to the Central Board of Secondary education in the month of may 2012.

Continuous & comprehensive

The CBSE has introduced the scheme of continuous and comprehensive evaluation in its schools in a phased manner The types of assessments we have is formative and summative assessments Formative assessment – A process used by a teacher to continuously monitor student progress in a non threatening, supportive environment. it involves regular descriptive feed back, and a Chance for the students to reflect on their performance and take advice and improve upon it . it involves students being an essential part of assessment from designing criteria to assessing self and the peers. it can also improve the performance of the students and raise their self esteem. We have four formative assessment in an year Summative assessment -is the assessment carried out at the end of the course of instruction. it is used for certification purpose and measures how much a student has learnt Co-curricular activities consist of literary and creative skills. Performing art and clubs which include eco-clubs, health and wellness clubs, science, social studies and mathematical clubs etc.. a student is expected to choose two activities from these groups. Health and physical education also will be assessed by teachers it is compulsory for the students to participate in any two activities given below. Key board, aerobics, karate ,yoga, gardening, Scouting and Guiding, Swimming, Gymnastics, first aid Sports and Games.

Activities Of The School

In order to inculcate leadership qualities and to develop responsible sense of personal freedom, respect for self and others, the school conducts election and students assume various leadership roles and exercise authority with responsibility. Elections are conducted at the beginning of the academic year.

The school offers ample opportunities for the students not only to attain academic excellence but also to discover and develop their talents.All the students from KG to X th std are grouped in to Gandhi, Nehru, Nethaji and Tagore. All the activities are conducted under the banner of these houses.
